Why buy Mahogany Bedside Cabinets?

20 April 2017

So why should you buy solid mahogany bedside cabinets? Well if you are anything like me you started off with hand me downs, moved on to flat pack but are now ready for something that is going to last. If you choose a classic design that is made from solid wood it could potentially last you a lifetime and classically designed furniture will suit traditional homes as well as modern.

Should you have one or two bedsides?

Personally I like things to be symmetrical and so I would opt for two. This also has the added benefit of making your bedroom look more balanced. The size of your bedroom however is going to dictate whether or not you can fit two in.

Bear in mind that even where space is an issue if it is possible to have two bedsides they are great for storage and not just for resting your cup of tea on! Our Louis Philippe 3 drawer bedside is a very good example of this. Measuring just 40cm wide this bedside can fit into a small gap. Even though it is small it has 2 good size drawers with a third hidden drawer above. Ideal for hiding valuable items such as your jewellery or a watch.

The Louis Philippe bedside is part of a range which includes chests of drawers, dressing table and wardrobes.

Different styles of mahogany bedside cabinets

We have a large selection of solid mahogany bedside cabinets in a variety of styles. We often find customers select plainer more traditional bedsides, such as the Sleigh or Louis Philippe, to go with our highly carved statement beds or perhaps a more decorative bedside with a plainer bed. The choice is yours and there is plenty to choose from including French, Rococo or Sleigh bedsides or antique reproduction pieces such as the Chippendale or Serpentine bedside cabinets.

French sleigh style bedside cabinet

Our French style sleigh bedside cabinet offers plenty of storage with 3 spacious drawers. This bedside is part of our range of reproduction sleigh bedroom furniture. The raised beaded edges, brass handles and paneled sides all add to the traditional style of this bedside.

Serpentine Chest

If antique reproduction furniture is your style you might like the Serpentine chest which wouldn’t look out of place in Downton Abbey! Although this is a chest of drawers, because of its small size, it lends itself to being used as a beside cabinet. The chest is bowfronted and features barley twist detail and best of all it has a pull out drawering slide which is  ideal for your morning cuppa. Don’t forget to use a coaster!
